Most issues can be resolved by logging out and logging back in, or restarting the app.

Getting Started

First Time Setup
  1. Download the App: Install Merchcast Mobile from the App Store or Google Play
  2. Login: Use your Merchcast account credentials to log in
  3. Select Your Band: Choose which band account you want to work with
  4. Select a Show: Pick the show you're selling merchandise for
Important: You must select both a band and a show before you can process sales.

Managing Shows

Dashboard Overview

The Dashboard screen shows all your tours and their associated shows:

  • Today's Shows: Highlighted for easy identification
  • Past Shows: Dimmed but still accessible
  • Future Shows: Normal display
Show Actions

For each show, you can:

  • New Sale: Start processing a new transaction
  • View Sales: See all transactions for this show
Tip: Selecting a show will remember your choice as you navigate between screens.

Processing Sales

Creating a Sale
  1. From the Dashboard, tap "New Sale" for your show
  2. Browse available inventory and add items to cart
  3. Apply discounts if needed (percentage or fixed amount)
  4. Select payment method
  5. Complete the transaction
Inventory Management
  • Items show available sizes and quantities
  • Out-of-stock items can be hidden (see Settings)
  • The app works in both portrait and landscape orientations
Discounts

You can apply two types of discounts:

  • Percentage: e.g., 10% off total
  • Fixed Amount: e.g., $5 off total

Payment Methods

Available Payment Options
Cash

Always available. Calculate change manually.

Card (Square)

Available when Square SDK is authorized. Processes credit/debit cards securely.

Venmo

Available when Venmo username is configured in account settings.

Comp

For complimentary items (no payment required).

Square Card Processing: If card payments aren't available, you may need to authorize the Square SDK in Settings > Square Settings.

Viewing Transactions

Transaction History

View all transactions for the selected show, including:

  • Receipt numbers and timestamps
  • Total amounts and payment methods
  • Item details and quantities
  • Tips (if applicable)
  • Transaction status
Summary Information

At the bottom of the transaction list, you'll see totals for:

  • Total sales amount
  • Total refunds
  • Tips collected
  • Items sold count

Processing Refunds

When Refunds Are Available

You can refund transactions that are:

  • Completed sales (not pending)
  • Not already refunded
  • Payment status is "COMPLETED"
How to Process a Refund
  1. Go to the Transactions screen for the show
  2. Find the transaction to refund
  3. Tap the "Refund" button
  4. Confirm the refund
  5. The transaction will update to show refunded status
Note: Refunded transactions will appear with negative amounts and updated labels.

Account & Settings

Account Information

View your account details including email and current band.

Square Integration
  • Linked Account: Shows your connected Square merchant account
  • Square Settings: Manage device permissions for card processing
  • Link/Unlink: Connect or disconnect your Square account
Inventory Preferences

Allow Out-of-Stock Items: Toggle whether to show items that are out of stock in the sales interface.

Troubleshooting

Common Issues

  1. Go to Settings > Square Settings
  2. Check if your Square account is linked
  3. Authorize SDK permissions if needed
  4. Restart the app if permissions were just granted

  1. Check your internet connection
  2. Make sure you've selected the correct band account
  3. Try logging out and logging back in
  4. Restart the app

  1. Force close the app completely
  2. Restart the app
  3. If problem persists, restart your device
  4. Check for app updates in your device's app store

If links starting with merchcast:// aren't working:

  1. Make sure you're logged into the app
  2. Try opening the link again after a few seconds
  3. If redirecting to Square settings, ensure the band ID in the link is correct
